From September 19th to 23rd, the 2011 Natural Gas and Pipeline Transportation Enterprise Occupational Skills Competition of the Group Company was held in Shenyang. One hundred contestants from six pipeline transportation enterprises, including China Petroleum Pipeline Company, West-East Gas Pipeline Company, and Xinjiang Oilfield Company, participated in the competition in three categories: oil transportation, gas transportation, and pipeline emergency repair.
After three days of competition, Mo Xiaohui from the Pipeline Company won the gold medal in the oil transportation competition, Jiao Weiping from the West-East Gas Pipeline Company won the gold medal in the gas transportation competition, the Western Pipeline Company won first place in the oil transportation team competition, and the Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company won first place in both the gas transportation and pipeline emergency repair competitions.
This competition is one of the three major occupational skills competitions organized by the Group Company this year, and it is also the first group-level competition for long-distance pipeline oil and gas transportation and large-diameter pipeline emergency repair skills. All natural gas and pipeline transportation enterprises attached great importance to this competition, actively selecting and training participants, and making preparations before the competition. Pan Yongjiang, the team leader of Xinjiang Oilfield Company, introduced that the company's 13 contestants were finally selected from more than 900 front-line employees through three rounds of selection and training.
By the end of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period, PetroChina had 52,000 kilometers of oil and gas long-distance pipelines in service, double the amount at the end of the Tenth Five-Year Plan period. The long-distance pipeline network has initially covered 29 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions.
The rapid development of oil and gas pipeline business has put forward new and higher requirements for the operational skills of front-line pipeline employees. Group company skills expert You Qingyu believes that the content of this competition is closely related to the actual situation. It not only plays a role in reviewing the skills level of front-line employees but also plays a guiding and encouraging role in promoting front-line employees to strengthen their learning and study business. At the same time, the selection process for contestants is also a process of employee on-the-job skills training, which is of great significance to improving the basic quality of front-line employees and promoting and ensuring the safe, stable, and efficient operation of oil and gas pipelines.
Li Wanyu, Assistant General Manager of the Group Company, Huang Weihe, Chief Engineer of PetroChina Company Limited and General Manager of the Natural Gas and Pipeline Company, and others attended the closing ceremony and awarded prizes to the winning contestants and units.

Development prospects of large-diameter (large-caliber) pressure pipes
The application of plastic pipes, both domestically and internationally, started with smaller diameters and gradually developed towards larger diameters. (There is no defined definition for large diameter; in this article, large diameter refers to diameters of 800mm and above.) It is worth noting that in recent years, there has been a major international trend towards the development of large-diameter plastic pipes, driven by environmental protection. As is well known, the world is currently facing a battle against climate change, and all countries must bear the responsibility of reducing carbon emissions. In the pipeline industry, there is undoubtedly a need to pay more attention to environmental impact.
